Marvelous, Mysterious Conduit

Good morning!

Psalm 4:3 assures us of this:

Know that the LORD has set apart His faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to Him.

And, Psalm 17:6 says:

I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.

Believers, don't ever hesitate to call out to Your Heavenly Father, in good times or bad.  When do we tend to call on Him?  When we have an urgent need, right?  He wants us to have fellowship with Him at all times.

It is easy to believe one of Satan's lies - - - namely, that God does not hear us, or even if He does, He doesn't care.

If you have a dear, precious friend, will you ignore him or her when he/she calls on you for help?  Of course not!  Yet, we accuse the God of Heaven of such, do we not?

Our prayers may not be answered in the way we would like, or even in our preferred timing.
But, they are heard.  God does not ignore His faithful children - - - I'm not talking about perfect people, as there are none.  I'm talking about those who name as Savior His only-begotten Son, and who seek to follow Him by living out their salvation (Philippians 2:12).

Interestingly, God does not promise to hear the prayers of unbelievers, except for the prayer that calls on Him for salvation through Jesus Christ.  Sometimes, He does answer the frantic prayers of unbelievers, sure.  He is sovereign and can answer any prayers He chooses.  But, there is no promise to hear them, as He has promised us in Psalm 4:3.  This promise is a special privilege for obedient believers.

Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.
John 9:31

Your wrongheaded lives caused the split between you and God.
Your sins got between you so that he doesn’t hear.

Isaiah 59:2

Additionally, believers, when we walk in persistent sin, we put distance between ourselves and our God.  Our deliberate sin can drive a wedge between us, so that our fellowship with Him is harmed. We must be quick to confess and turn our backs on the sins that so easily trip us up, so that our fellowship with the Father, through the Son and Holy Spirit can be as unhindered as possible.

Don't hesitate to call on Him today, no matter your circumstances.  He is waiting to hear from you!

Dear Father, thank you for this marvelous, mysterious conduit we call prayer.  Thank you that we can call on You at any time because Your Holy Spirit lives within us, Your children.  Thank you for promising to hear us and to answer, although the answer may not be the one we seek.  We can trust that You always have the best interest of Your children at heart, as You work out Your will on the earth.  May our constant prayer be, "Not our will, but Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven." In Jesus' name, amen.
